Liz La Petra

Fused Glass Artist and Teacher

As a child I always had an affinity to glass.  The way it catches the light, the textures, or the feeling I get when I see a window full of  colorful images.  I’ve always been a creative person, however, most of my creativity went to my job as a Speech Therapist for the last 18 years. Ten years ago on a whim, I took a fused glass art class at the Phoenix Center for the Arts.  I had wonderful teachers and fellow classmates that cultivated my love of glass into a passion.  Fused glass has so many facets such as sculpting, painting, photography and even weaving can be incorporated.  

I created La Petra Studio because I hope to enrich the community through the education, creation and exhibition of glass fusion art.  Speech therapy is very fulfilling, but I am ready to continue teaching in a different role. I look forward to teaching what I know and look forward to what we can learn together.
